ABOUT THIS EPISODE
What is “white supremacy”? Dr. Frances Cress Welsing, MD, renowned psychiatrist, defined it in her scholastic work as a global system of defensive, political, and terrorist strategies perpetrated and supported by people who classify themselves as “white” who believe that they must abate and prevent “white annihilation”. How this system works can be seen throughout world events such as genocide, slavery, and war. Of course, it is much more complex than it seems, yet it is the root of all racism and bigotry embedded and now being lauded as “smart” in America. White supremacy is NOT racism but is fueled by it.
White supremacy is the belief that white people or those who categorize themselves as white, constitute a superior race and should therefore dominate society, to the exclusion or detriment of other racial and ethnic groups, In particular, Black, brown, indigenous, Muslim, and Jewish people.
What happened to all of those in the Republic of Gilead?
There is little new in the ideas that underpin white nationalism, white supremacy, the alt-right, and fascism. At its core, white nationalism is little more than an attempt to cloak white supremacist ideas in the more respectable language of racial separatism, just as the alt-right has tried to repackage fascist thought in a more modern form. All these variants are built on common notions of white identity and racial superiority. They promote hate and violence as valid political tools, rejecting values of equality, coexistence, and the rule of law in favor of raw power and ethnic division.
In this episode, we seek his insight into the impact of white supremacy in the development and engineering of fascism and authoritarianism seeping into American society and eroding an already fragile democracy of targeted populations by this growing ideology.
